WOL Pattern #2: From Event to Community

What’s the number one reason people attend conferences?

Networking.

Whether it’s an industry conference, an internal company event, or a local meetup, one of the main reasons people attend is to meet other people.

As the event winds down, the common refrain is “We should do this more often.” Then everyone goes home. “See you next year.”

But why does it have to end that way?

Here’s a simple way to continue the learning and networking after the event.

  1. Conduct a short WOL workshop during the event. Participants form groups of five and experience the kind of trusted exchange that happens in a WOL Circle.

  2. Invite them to continue meeting after the event using the 12-week WOL Career & Life method.

Participants will build deeper connections while getting the structure, shared accountability, and support they need to accomplish their goals.

The conference organizers get participants who not only feel they got extra value for their fee, but who feel a greater sense of belonging to the community that attended the event.

The audience is already there. They want and expect networking.

WOL Circles are a chance to help them grow and connect in a meaningful way. A way that will make them want to come back year after year.
