Meet our newest WOL Coach: Inês Crisóstomo
Inês is the first WOL Coach in Luxembourg!
She works at the university there, and in our initial call I could immediately tell she is a natural connector and mentor, a developer of people.
Her eyes lit up as we discussed using WOL to connect post-doctoral fellows at the university; as we talked about her passion for supporting women and using Circles to help them empower each other.
She has a keen mind and an incredible breadth of experience, having worked in multiple countries, in multiple disciplines, and in multiple languages. Her roles have ranged from molecular geneticist to scientific trainer to career counselor, and I feel this gives her a unique perspective on people and career paths.
For each new WOL Coach, I ask three questions so you can get to know them and their motivations. (You can also visit Inês’ WOL Coach profile on workingoutloud.com, connect with her on LinkedIn, or reach her directly at crisosi@gmail.com.)
I can’t wait to see what Inês does with WOL at the University of Luxembourg—and beyond!
1. Please share 5 facts about you so people get to know you.
I am a facilitator at heart. I’ve been told my superpower is having “helicopter vision” — connecting people, topics, and ideas and bringing them together toward a common objective.
My purpose is to empower others and help them reach their full potential.
I was a microbiology researcher, and I still approach challenges with curiosity, experimentation, and a continuous learning mindset.
I love piloting ideas, testing, reflecting, and improving. Progress over perfection.
I am a mother, and I am ambitious — ambitious to become the best version of myself and to model courage and confidence. Looking back, I now see evidence of both, even if for many years I did not think of myself as neither courageous nor confident.
2. What positive difference do you aspire to make?
I want to create spaces where people can pause, reflect, and grow — especially in environments that are often fast-paced and demanding.
Too often, we are absorbed by responsibilities and constant demands, and we don’t take the time to reflect on where we are and where we want to go. I want to facilitate the time and space to think. And I believe it is more powerful when done together.
Connection fuels energy and motivation. I thrive in groups and teams, and in my experience, many others do too. In large organizations, however, it is not always obvious how to find the people who can be there with you and for you. I want to help make those connections visible and intentional.
3. Why WOL?
Working Out Loud is about connection and learning — two of my strongest drivers. Through designing and implementing mentoring and training programs, I have seen how powerful structured peer exchange can be. WOL offers a simple and practical framework to nurture exactly that.
I do not want to reinvent the wheel. I want to contribute to a wheel that is already in motion — and help it move further and louder.
